Dear MonFMC.com Visitors,
This is an amazing time for all of us who have a connection with our church. We are in the midst of our Building a Legacy capital stewardship campaign to resource our mission to reach as many as possible for Christ. This information packet has several items to help you grow spiritually and to give you information about the purpose and process of Building a Legacy. It also contains information about the building project itself. Ultimately we hope the enclosed material will inform you and help you on this spiritual journey that will result in a sacrificial financial response on Commitment Sunday, October 18.
Contained in the packet for you:
1) Gift Profile Chart – It is the single sheet with the charted numbers. These represent the number and the size of gifts that historically have been given in churches that have already raised what we are attempting. For us to accomplish our objectives, it will almost certainly require these kinds of commitments. Use it as a prayer tool asking God to help you locate your gift size.
2) What is your STORY page – This is a page that you can use to describe how MonFMC has impacted your life, or what God is teaching you or how you are sacrificing for the campaign. Please return your anonymous responses by October 4 for publication.
3) Q&A Sheet – This sheet is designed to answer many of the most commonly asked questions concerning the new facility and the capital campaign. Please read it over carefully as it will give you lots of great information.
4) Building a Legacy – This gives info about what, why, when and how much concerning our new facility.
5) Question Page – This page is your opportunity to ask any question you may have that has not been answered. Questions submitted and their answers will be printed soon.
6) Commitment Page – Please prayerfully choose your pledge gift, fill in this page and return to us at MonFMC,
In the near future, we will be making available to all who want it, a building video to view with your entire family. This will be a great resource for those of you who have not seen the building. All of this information and these tools are to help you grow. We cannot do it without you, but together with God’s help we can accomplish our goal. Our prayer is that everyone in our church will grow in faith and stewardship as we rejoice in what God is doing in our lives through this Building a Legacy campaign.

Questions and Answers Concerning our New Facility
Where will the new church be located, what will it look like, how many seats will it have, and what type of seats will they be?
The sanctuary will be located in the repair bay area after remodeling has been completed. We estimate there will be seating for approximately 1,000 people. We will be using comfortable chairs similar to the red chair currently used in our present sanctuary. The entire building is handicapped accessible and has an elevator to the second floor; there will be several spaces in the sanctuary for wheel chairs throughout the seating area.
How much will the total plan cost and how will we pay for it?
The plan will cost approximately $3 million. Our desire is to raise that entire amount through a capital campaign that will ask people to pledge an amount and then give that amount over a three year period. If the entire amount is not pledged and financing is necessary, the official members of the congregation will have an opportunity to vote whether to pursue that financing.
Does the Leadership Team think we will be able to raise all $3 million?
At all levels of leadership, this question has been a topic of many conversations, as well as a reason for fervent prayer both individually and among various groups. We know that statistics suggest an average campaign will raise approximately 3 times the annual income of a church. For MonFMC, that would mean approximately $1 million. We feel the $3 million is possible for a variety of reasons. One reason is that we have raised significant funds in the 1.5 years we have devoted to the New Church Fund. Another factor was the nearly $4 million projected cost of a “Phase I” new building, which would not include space for several significant ministries currently being provided by MonFMC. Perhaps the most important, we felt God leading us to challenge ourselves and all of MonFMC with this God-sized goal.
When will we be able to begin using the new building?
The building as it is currently designed would be adequate to begin holding services immediately. However, there are steps required after the Society Meeting vote approval. We must also have Conference approval; all loan forms for the FM Foundation are in the process of being completed.
